Congressman John Spratt opened his campaign headquarters on Saturday in Rock Hill to the cheers of some 200 supporters, who celebrated with hot dogs and music under clear blue skies. Spratt thanked everyone for coming, and for their continuing willingness to put up yard signs, talk to their neighbors, and volunteer for his campagin, year after year.
Spratt talked about his 26 years in office, and how he has tried to do his level best to serve the people of the 5th District through his leadership on the Budget and Armed Services Committees. He also talked about the hard work that lies ahead, especially in the areas of Social Security, Medicare, and energy.
Everyone enjoyed the fellowship and the chance to speak with Congressman Spratt one on one, telling him of their personal concerns. Spratt said he was grateful for the support he has received from all his supporters - those who have been with him from the beginning, and those who are just joining his campaign this year.
